For those of you that have been with the MTNS for years, you know that our first record, Velvet Raccoon, came out quite a long time ago. And with following us for that long period of time, you know we’ve been talking about a sophomore follow up since 2013. When the band came back from our hiatus, we released our first track since 2012 with Trenches as part of a local music sampler procured by Flying Dog in 2015. Ever since then, a lot of you have asked about when we will release more stuff like Trenches. We are happy to say, that reality is closer than it has ever been.
In the fall of 2017, we started tracking our second album, for real. Those sessions had sat dormant for over a year, but that hibernation is over. Two weeks ago, we spent the entire week holed up in Pat’s house with our good friend, Derek Salazar. He took those year old sessions, and we got to work. Between guitars, banjos, omnichords, eating PB&Js, Derek cooking eggs, lead vocals, hitting random objects in Pat’s garage as percussion, discovering NICE coconut cookies, and gang vocals, the record is sounding like a record. We are so close, and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. That light looks like a second album.
It’s hard to ask those who have stuck by us for so long, to wait just a bit longer, but please wait just a bit longer. We promise this will be worth it. As was said before, we are so close, and it feels great.
